Today, I took Eni Oken's Art Raffle app for a spin. This tile is the result! For my first tile in eons, it’s not bad! If you tangle, you should get this FREE app, it’s lots of fun! Template. If you look closely at the string I used for this tile, you‘ll see two vases. I traced around a vase-shaped template, reversing and overlapping it for the second shape. Old fashioned. This tile has several tangles that I haven‘t drawn in some time. And the style is more like what I did years ago than what has evolved since then. Every so often, I think it‘s a good idea to reflect on the past. Zentangle drawn on Strathmore Bristol Vellum using a black Micron pen. Tangles: Echoism Emingle Finery Florz Inapod Quandry Sedgling Static Stiritup
It‘s a star. The string in this tangle started out as a star and then warped into what you see here after the random tangles were chosen. Zentangle drawn on Strathmore Bristol Vellum using a black Micron pen. Tangles: Baton Carrés Circfleur Diva Dance Floo Munchin Nzeppel OOF Pearlz Prestwood Stiritup
Ca-Ray-Zee! Ok, this is old, and I don‘t remember what I was trying here, other than to try tangling on a colored background with a different colored pen. This tile has no shading, and frankly, I don‘t think adding it would help at all. It looks like the string had lots of curves, but who knows how it all began! Zentangle drawn on colored card stock using a sepia Micron pen.
Conservatory. For some reason, this tile reminds me of an old-fashioned, Victorian conservatory. I see the tile floor, the elaborate swirls of the wicker furniture and the plants. Paths. In this tile, Twing kind of makes a path for you to follow in and out of the designs. There are probably too many tangle designs here, but I needed a bunch to fill in the string that I created. Zentangle drawn on Strathmore Vellum Bristol using a black, Micron pen. Tangles: 2-N-5 Bubbles Chard Cootie Dandelion Seeds Pop-Cloud Quabog Stiritup Twing
Shades of Grey. Originally, I wanted to do a lot of grey values with pencil on this tile. But when that was done, the King‘s Crown pattern was very lost in the background and the black section on the Cirquitals looked too flat. Then I decided to add the white highlights, which I don‘t normally do on a white tile. Bingo! It just popped the designs right up and made them so much more dimentional. And I love the “plastic” look it gave to the crown design!
