I have a big thing about shoes. Personally, I have 3 pairs that I wear: flip-flops, at home, sneakers for hiking and walking a lot and sandals to wear in the summer. But for my dolls, it’s another story. It seems like most of them have more shoes than clothes! I normally make a pair to go with each outfit. I changed the Luna Lapin pattern to make Mitsuki and now the feet are longer. This means I have to draft an entirely new pattern for a basic shoe. Once I have it, I can modify it for any kind of shoe.
I made Mitsuki a lounging outfit. And then, I couldn’t find it, or her! Oh my! After a few days, she reappeared, and I discovered she had gone to Santa Fe! What? Bad bunny! She says she went to get some ideas for clothes she wants me to make. Apparently she has some new ideas. We’ll have to wait and see how this develops.
New Bunny
In Japan, there is a traditional myth about a white rabbit that lives in the moon. Also, in the winter, snow sculptures are made representing small, white rabbits or hares. They are referred to as yuki usagi. I was originally going to give my new bunny a french personality, but I have changed my mind. She is going to be Japanese. So, I’m introducing you to Mitsuki Bun-Bun. She is based on the Luna Lapin rabbit pattern, but with some variations. To begin with, Luna is supposed to be made from felt, with fabric in her ears and on her foot pads. I didn’t have the right kind of felt, so I redrafted the pattern to allow me to make her from fabric.
Luna Partial
Yesterday, I got up later than usual, so I was running behind. After a trip to return unneeded things to the storage unit, and a walk to pick up the mail, I was further behind. My regular social media tasks also took up a good chunk of time. By the time I was going to sew masks, I realized I wasn’t really up for it. I decided to give myself a “personal day” to do whatever I felt like.
Luna Lapin
Sometimes, you just need some bunny to love! With everything going on in the world, I am having some issues with making art. However, I don’t want to let that stop my creativity completely. I’ve been making masks for myself and my husband, and now I will be making more this week for a few friends. But over the weekend, I decided to sew something just for the fun of it!
