It’s been a while since I’ve done a meditative Zentangle. I took the time for this one because I was having one of “those days”. The Zentangle method is a great technique for setting aside all of the outside world noise and just relaxing and drawing for a bit.
Give it a try!

I decided to give dingsplatZ a try this weekend. It was fun to do this on the fawn colored paper. It allowed me to add both highlights and shadows!

I haven’t posted a Zentangle from Amanda Higbee, CZT in a long time. The camera on her phone has been broken and other life things have interfered.
But I have one for your pleasure today!
I love the way she used strips of Ambler to draw the eye into the center of the tile.
I also got a big kick out of the list of tangles on the back of her tile. She called Bronx Cheer “boo boo berries”!
The second day on our path we’re walking fast… faster than I am used to. I feel like I’m running to keep up with everyone else. Kind of out of breath and unable to slip into a rhythm.
This is our second tile. I’m so excited to see the mosaic we create together!

String theory.
She knew that diving into the black hole to escape the pirates would be risky. But she really didn’t know how wild the ride would be. The view screen showed her the strings of realities she could follow. Which one should she choose?

Morning.
The sun shone through the open window, casting small shadows from the Creeper vines. The decorative designs on the windowsill captured her attention. They reminded her of the suns of home.
You may notice that there is a new addition to the sidebar on the right. In the “Explore” section, a random Zentangle will appear. You can click on it and go to the post about it. The choice of Zentangle is totally random and changes every time a page is loaded. Enjoy!
Revelation.
She stared up at the ceiling, trying to clear her mind. It was time to decide on a direction. Her ship was ready, but she was hesitating.
This is an interesting tile, from my perspective. Those of you who have been following my art for a while, know that sometimes I create random tiles and write a few lines of a story to go with them. They are always from the perspective of a female person, one that is travling around the universes in some kind of a ship, exploring various planets. Up until now, the actual person has never been seen.
Palette.
Her basket was full of magical designs just waiting to be added to a frock or a cushion. Some plain, some fancy, some simple, some complex, woven together they created a magical mixture for the customers to choose from.
The basic string for this Zentangle came from the Tangler's Palette" stencils from Acadia Laser Creations on Etsy. I wanted this set of stencils as soon as I saw them. They offer so many different possibilites for creative play!
This tile is from Project Pack 2, The Twelve Days of Zentangle. On day eleven, Rick and Maria used 3Z tiles assembled into stars! The video shows you how to make two different stars from both black and white 3Zs. I chose to make the white one this time.
This project was a lot of fun, and not all that difficult. The biggest problem I had was drawing over the gold ink with the micron pen. My pens hated it, and I had a lot of problems with it. Other than that, I liked working on the star shape, and enjoyed the process.
Tiny details.
This tile is a result of Eni Oken’s Tiny Details Lesson . This excellent video shows you exactly how to create and shade areas of a tile which include little, tiny detail drawings which can be a major challenge to shade!
I love tiny drawing and repetitive patterns that are very close to each other. There is just something really soothing and satisfying about filling predefined areas with tangles like these, making this tile lots of fun to create.
Under the suns.
All three suns were out in the day. Somehow the river floated in the sky, crossing the mountains in the distance. It was as if it was a bridge across the earth, separating the sky from the fields below.

Angled.
This tile is all about the angles. The string is made up of straight lines set at various angles. The tangles also provide tension due to the placement against the string and each other. The occasional curves help to balance out the rigidity of the lines by providing some softness.

Purked up.
I had some problems with the Zentangle I posted last Friday. So, for the next week, I‘m dropping into tangling that is much more basic. I‘ll stick to white tiles, black in, and graphite pencil for the shading.
So here, Purk was one of the random tangles that came out of the jar. I decided that I woud draw two of them in the center of the tile, and then fill in the rest of the string with random tangles. This works!
It‘s complicated.
When I‘m stressed, taking time to tangle becomes even more important. It allows me to decompress and step away from the chaos. However, my tile often reflects what‘s going on around me. This tile is a case in point. I‘m not feeling good, and there is a lot of “stuff” going on that has me not following my “normal” routine.

Relaxation.
When I hold out this tile and squint at it, I get the feeling of a daybed, or the corner of a couch in an atrium. It feels like I could snuggle against the pillows with a good book or a sketch pad!

Everything is new.
Every tangle on this tile is new for me, the first time I‘ve drawn it. I started out with a vague concept of doing a Steampunk-themed tile, but then just kinda did random new tangles. Parts of it I like, and parts I don‘t.
