Twisted Ropes. This is my first attempt at trying the twisted rope techniques introduced by Eni Oken. I had a small problem with my pink pen… it started puddling and making inconsistent lines shortly after I stared. I decided to carry on with it anyway because I didn‘t want to start my tile over again. It turns out that, IMHO, the blooping pen actually added to the designs.

Divided. The string used for this tile had multiple spaces that allowed for quite a few tangles. I tried to place the random patterns in an interesting way. But looking at it all these years later, it feels like this one needs some stronger contrasts. It‘s a bit too even. Zentangle drawn on Official Zentangle tile using a black, Micron pen. Many. There are a lot of tangles on this tile. That‘s because I used a string that had many “sections”. But I think it still works because I repeated a couple of the designs and also used a central, bold tangle. Those framed and anchored the whole thing. Quantity. This string had a lot of individual “spaces” in it to fill with tangles. Since I selecting tangle patterns randomly, sometimes a busy tile works, and sometimes it doesn‘t. I think, for the most part, this one works. Zentangle drawing done with Micron pen on Strathmore Vellum Bristol. Tangles: Chicken Wire Chillon Gloven Hurry Knight‘s Cross Narwal Nzeppel Quabog Snail
